Experience the heart of Mauritius in a way most travelers never see. Step away from the resorts and into the rhythm of everyday Mauritian life. Feel the cool, heavy weight of the traditional stone mortar in your palms as you grind fresh tomatoes and bright cilantro into a fragrant paste. From grinding spices the traditional way to masterfully folding the perfect samosa, you’ll discover the secrets of Mauritian life through the flavors that define it. Take a deep dive into the island’s heritage, shared over a communal table. This experience invites you to slow down and connect with both the food and the people behind it.
Heritage Home Immersion: Enter a family home and garden where daily life unfolds naturally. This intimate setting offers a genuine glimpse into Mauritian culture, far from staged experiences or crowds.
Mastering the Roche Cari: Learn to prepare fresh chutneys using the roche cari, a traditional stone mortar and pestle central to Mauritian cooking. Grinding by hand releases deeper aromas and textures, creating flavors that cannot be replicated by modern tools.

Cooking Over Open Fire: Prepare dishes the way they have been cooked for generations, using fire, patience, and intuition. This method brings warmth, depth, and authenticity to every bite.
A Shared Family Feast: Sit down with your hosts to enjoy the meal you prepared together. This moment is about connection, conversation, and discovering the stories behind the dishes.
Private and Exclusive: Each booking is reserved for your group only. We never mix groups. This means you have the host’s undivided attention and the freedom to ask questions and learn at your own pace, making it the perfect intimate experience for couples, families, or close friends.
